YOU would have been forgiven for thinking you were on Bondi Beach, but on a balmy Tuesday night in Manhattan, Sydney designers came together to celebrate all things Aussie.

A giant yellow panel van media wall poster set the mood for the prestigious event, which is now in its ninth year.

Among the guests were famously shy style maven Christine Centenera, who enjoyed a photo opportunity with expat and former Australian Vogue creative director Jillian Davison.

Top models including Ajak Deng, Annabella Barber and Victoria Lee also made an appearance before heading out for a private dinner party.

The champagne flowed into the evening as emerging designers, including Edwina Robinson, Adrian Norris and Tessa and Beth MacGraw — in town for the Australian Fashion Chamber’s Designers Abroad program — caught up with stalwarts such as Nicky and Simone Zimmermann, Camilla Freeman-Topper and Dion Lee.
