KYAL AND KARA FIND LIFE IS CHOCK-A-BLOCK
HAVING just wrapped the latest of their 40plus renovations, The Block duo Kara and Kyal Demmrich are searching for a new property to flip while also preparing for the arrival of their second child.
Four years after their popular stint on the Nine reality renovation contest, the pair are floored at the life they’ve created for themselves, especially given many reality contestants struggle to capitalise on the platform that comes with their exposure on the show.
“We thought we’d just go back to our normal jobs after the show finished, me as a carpenter and Kara as a physiotherapist,” said Kyal, “but opportunities kept popping up, and to be still getting them four years later is amazing.
“It’s a creative outlet for us and to be able to work together every day is the dream.”
The pair are currently settling on the Long Jetty home they extensively renovated then sold in December for $1.59 million (after purchasing it for $710,000 earlier that year) and are already looking for a new project on the Central Coast.
But getting on the tools will be a little tougher this time around, with Kara due to give birth to a sibling for their 18-month-old son Ziya in May.
“When we did the Long Jetty house last year, I had Ziya strapped to me for the first few months of that reno and then it got a bit hard because he wanted to run around,” said Kara.
“We’ll see how we go because it’s going to be hard having the two of them strapped to us.”
The pair have joined forces with booking.com to inspire Aussies to bring their holiday home.
They suggest removing clutter, hiding appliances, buying quality bed linen and good lighting as some of the easiest ways to transform your home into a hotel experience.
