BEST BETS WITH SHAYNE O’CASS

The Sunday Telegraph (Sydney) - - RACEDAY PREVIEW -

BEST BET Race 1: No.3 Hemmerle A son of Lucas Cranach who was very unlucky not to have a Caulfield Cup and also ran so well in a Melbourne Cup. This debutant is trained by Danny Williams and trialled like a horse who would run well when presented on race day.

NEXT BEST

Race 4: No.4 Zither Part-owned by the TAB’s Sally Snow and is a daughter of Commands, a sire well known for being able to get them to perform fresh. Indeed, this mare’s lone win (from 3 starts) was a tough effort on debut at Kembla on Melbourne Cup day last year. Has trialled well.

VALUE

Race 3: No.7 Lady Demi A lightly-raced type who won her first start in a barnstorming manner. She wasn’t beaten by much firstup at Nowra and will be all the better for that outing. The 1200m is ideal.

JOCKEY TO FOLLOW

Nick Heywood, the former Riverina whiz who has gone on to make it in town, has a great book of rides and will go close in the TAB Jockeys Challenge.

QUADDIE
