Anatola goes like the wind

The Sunday Telegraph (Sydney) - - RACEDAY PREVIEW - RAY THOMAS

ANATOLA scorched over the Randwick 1200m faster than any of the great champions who have graced the famous course.

In a stunning burst, Anatola yesterday stopped the clock in a course record time of 1min 08.03s in the APN Outdoor Handicap (1200m).

Josh Parr rode Anatola and, by coincidence, rode the previous track record holder, Deploy, who ran 1m 8.06s winning the Show County Quality last spring.

“I think that is the winning formula; fast horse, fast jockey and fast time,’’ trainer Mark Newnham said.

Punters sent Anatola out $4.80 favourite and were rewarded when the mare streaked home 2½ lengths clear of Test The World ($5) with Dissolute ($5) a length away third.
