Stewards act on careless riding
MARC Van Gestel said Jean Van Overmeire’s suspension record was a worry after he was outed for nine meetings and suspended from April 29 to May 13 for his ride on Guerrier in the Champagne Stakes.
“That record is concerning,” the chief steward said. “You’ve got to keep your mounts straight. Safety is the No.1 priority.”
Glyn Schofield was suspended for careless riding and got seven meetings — out from April 29 to May 12.
Mark Zahra was suspended for six meetings for careless riding in the Champagne Stakes and will be out of action from April 22 to May 5.
