Injury rules out Horne
FORMER Wallaby and Waratah Rob Horne has been forced to retire at 28 after suffering major nerve damage to his right arm while playing in England.
Horne, who played 101 games for NSW and 34 Tests for Australia, was taken from the field after just 13 seconds while playing for Northampton against Leicester, after attempting to make a tackle.
In devastating news for Horne, a Saints press release said tests by leading neurological doctors determined Horne had “suffered career-ending nerve damage to his right arm”.
“This is absolutely tragic news and has been devastating for every member of the squad and staff here,” said interim head coach Alan Dickens.
Horne enjoyed a distinguished playing career for Souths, NSW and Australia.
