No sale for Block judge pad

The Sunday Telegraph (Sydney) - - NEWS -

THE Block judge and Stellar columnist Neale Whitaker’s apartment passed in on a vendor bid of $1.7 million at auction yesterday but he said he has no regrets about buying it 18 months ago.

He paid $1.705 million for the three-bedroom warehouse style unit at 103/41 Birmingham St, Alexandria, when the Sydney property market was flying in August 2016.

Mr Whitaker and his partner, David Novak-Piper, now have their eye on a home near Berry on the south coast so they put the apartment up for auction through BresicWhitney with a guide of $1.6 million.

“Obviously the market’s changed in 18 months, but this is a beautiful apartment and we’ve loved living in it,” Mr Whitaker said.

Their plan is to snap up a pet-friendly one-bedder in the Alexandria or Rosebery area and divide their time between there and the Berry home.

It’s not every day that buyers have the opportunity to purchase a Block judge’s home, so agents Melinda Antella and Ivan Bresic are confident of a sale.
