The Sunday Telegraph (Sydney) - - RACING - MATT JONES

IT was fitting a Chris Wallertrained horse won yesterday’s race celebrating his induction into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame, but jockey James McDonald said that’s not all he should be excited about as I Am Serious is the real deal.

The four-year-old raced in a threewide position from gate 13 at Rosehill but travelled well for McDonald, who made the winning move at the 600m.

She powered past the field in the straight and never looked threatened to beat La Chica Bella by 1¾ lengths eased down.

“She’s a beautiful mare and I think she’s better than that and can progress to stakes grade soon,” McDonald said.

Stable representative Charlie Duckworth said it was good to see her bounce back after a below-par seventh to Crafty Cop.

“As we all saw in her first-up run, she can hit a bit of a flat spot so it was nice to see James get nice and mobile early on her over 1400m,” he said.
