Sportsbet stuff- ups falling on ‘ dead’ ears

The Sunday Telegraph (Sydney) - - RACING -

SPORTSBET hasn’t learnt from our piece last week pointing out the fact it still had deceased horse Ittetsu in its all-in market for The Everest.

As of yesterday arvo, Terravista was a $61 chance in the race even though he’s been retired for almost a week.

Even worse, Sportsbet has Terravista as a $41 chance for the Stradbroke on June 9.

Ladbrokes has Impending in The Everest market at $31 even though he’ll be at stud when the race is run.

There must be penalties for this if we’re all about “looking after the punters” — a line we hear every week. JAMES McDonald made a winning comeback on Wednesday at Warwick Farm but odds-on favourite Press Box (above right) couldn’t help him out in his first Saturday ride yesterday when fifth to Ronstar.

“She raced very plain,” he told stewards. “It felt like she wasn’t a furnished horse yet. She came off the bridle and never picked up.”
