Easy to feed kids healthy

HENRY and Parker Keane are a pic­ture of health be­cause mum Danielle has fed them a wide va­ri­ety of foods from the day they started eat­ing solids.

“I go with com­mon sense, lots of fruit, ve­g­ies, grains like rice, white meat, red meat and eggs and dairy. They go through phases, but they get a lot of va­ri­ety,” Mrs Keane said.

Ex­perts say that, at one to two years of age, chil­dren need a wide va­ri­ety of healthy food from all five food groups. At this age, a child’s ap­petite varies from day to day. Sug­gested daily serves in­clude: ½ serve of fruit; 2-3 serves of ve­g­ies; 1-1½ serves of dairy; 4 serves of grains and one serve of lean meats, eggs, nuts and

legumes.
