STEWARDS questioned Blake Shinn why he didn’t take Smartedge to o the inside of Curdled to make his run in the e third race.
Shinn said the horse only had a 300m dash so he wanted to get to the outside and have ave the last crack at them. hem He ran home strongly for fourth. But chief steward Marc Van Gestel said had he made a run to the inside of Curdled he would have been able to get going earlier. “As one of th the most senior joc jockeys in the r room, aren’t you a always looking for o options?”
Shinn said he un understood what Van Gestel was saying but was comfortable going to the outside. Stewards said he should have taken the inside run.
