Tigers wary of Chooks

The Sunday Telegraph (Sydney) - - NRL - MATT LOGUE

A FULL-strength Wests Tigers will take on a weakened Sydney Roosters side today, but Ivan Cleary’s men are refusing to be complacent.

You could forgive the Tigers for dropping their mental guard against a Roosters side missing four of their best players to Origin. Latrell Mitchell, Dylan Napa, James Tedesco and Boyd Cordner possess plenty of strike and experience and will be sorely missed.

Fortunately, the tricolours still have a strong side in the absence of their Origin stars through Cooper Cronk, Blake Ferguson and Luke Keary.

It’s why Tigers captain Chris Lawrence is on high alert heading into the showdown with the Roosters.

“We definitely can’t take them lightly,” Lawrence said.

“The Roosters have a few guys in Origin and we don’t, but they still have a quality side with players like Cronk, Ferguson and Keary. We just have to worry about ourselves and focus on playing good footy.”
