Dad buys brothel as a home for his kids

The Sunday Telegraph (Sydney) - - NEWS -

TALK about a sexy property bargain — a Castle Cove dad bought his 20-something kids a former brothel as their first home.

The huge five-bedroom, double-storey terrace at 124 George St, Redfern — with spa baths in two of the upstairs bedrooms and shower and mirrors in a third — would have been a steal even at the original $1.4 million reserve but he picked it up for $1,326,000.

It also came with some unusual extras, such as a safe hidden in the floor of the lounge room.

But yesterday just two bid- ders turned up to register for the former house of ill-repute. After it was passed in, the house saw some more behind-closed-doors business as Belle Property Surry Hills principal and auctioneer Mark Foy and agent Ted Pye negotiated with the bidders.

There was a comical scene that had the agents running between four of the rooms with a range of offers.

The two vendors, formerly in business together, were separated in two of the dodgy bedrooms and the two buyers were in other rooms.

The dad has plans to renovate and move the kids in.

It’s unclear if the bedroom mirrors will remain.

The winning dad.
