FORMER prime minister Malcolm Turnbull is turning his back on Canberra for the final time, putting his luxury apartment up for sale.

Mr Turnbull lived in the multimillion-dollar penthouse apartment on Canberra’s Kingston foreshore before becoming prime minister in September 2015 and moving into The Lodge.

The Sunday Telegraph understands the Turnbulls want more than $2.5 million for the two-storey apartment, which was described by one property expert as “one of Canberra’s finest penthouses”.

The apartment is listed for sale with Canberra agent Berkely Residential, which confirmed the sale with expressions of interest closing on October 11.

It is described as “a gorgeous two- level penthouse” in “one of Canberra’s finest waterfront locations”.

It features three bedrooms and “stunning lake views” from all living areas. And, according to the property listing it is: “As-new condition, very lightly lived in and under one ownership since new.”

Since he was dumped from the top job, the former prime minister and his wife Lucy have been living in their New York apartment on Manhattan’s upper west side.
