Liberals fail on females

The Sunday Telegraph (Sydney) - - MIRANDA DEVINE -

THE Liberal Party’s woman trouble will rear its head again this week when pregnant state Liberal MP Felicity Wilson comess under pressure to explain errors in statutory declarations she used to gain preselection for the safe seat of North Shore.

Mosmanman branch member Jeffrey Phillips, SC, has lodged a complaint with NSW Liberal Party director Chris Stone and the Liberal Nomination Review Committee which meets Wednesday to approve candidates.

At the last meeting of the Mosman branch, members vowed not to fundraise for Wilson.

“(We) have met with Ms Wilson to afford her the opportunity portunity to address inaccuracies concerning her claimed academic achievement, work experience, voting record and enrolment, as well as her residential history,” writes Phillips.

“Unless this is resolved the seat of North Shore will fall to an independent, as it nearly did last time.” time.

If the Liberals want to attractract quality women MPs and win elections, it needs to lift its game.
