Finding a home on the road

The Sunday Telegraph (Sydney) - - NEWS -

WHEN Aaron and Jacqui Dobner decided to pack up their home and four children and set out on an adventure around Australia, they had never camped before.

They have now clocked up more than 50,000km in their caravan over 14 months and are one of a growing number of young Australian families hitting the road to press the reset button on their lives.

Figures from the Caravan Industry Association Of Australia show there are more caravanners and campers aged 30-54 than any other.

“It’s been such a benefit to our family — there is so much more than working to pay a mortgage,” Jacqui, 36, said.

“We embraced the minimalist lifestyle,” Aaron said. “It was cathartic and very freeing.”
