Foran wary of only one thing — Bonnie Sare’s weight

The Sunday Telegraph (Sydney) - - RACEDAY PREVIEW -

INVERELL trainer Allan Foran says only one thing can beat Bonnie Sare today — and it’s not one of her rivals.

The six-year-old mare races in a benchmark 58 handicap over 1900m and she’s flying at the moment and is no doubt good enough to win the race on class alone.

“She’s only tiny and has 59kg so that’s the only thing that can stop her,’’ Foran said. “Other than that, she should nearly win. She was unlucky first-up then she did nothing but run first and second so, if she runs the trip, she should beat them.”

After runs over 1400m and 1600m, Bonnie Sare takes on today’s 1900m trip for the first time, but Foran isn’t worried.

“She’s going well and she’s run strongly over 1600m so she should run the next 300m because she’s nice and fit,” Foran said.

“She settles really well and is easy to ride. You can put her wherever you want and from that gate (10), she’ll go out the back and finish off well.”

Ruby Two Shoes is Foran’s other leading hope in a benchmark 58 handicap (1400m). She ran a super race first-up over 1100m at Armidale when storming home.

“She’s going really well but it’s the first time she’s been over 1400m,” Foran said.

“If she runs as well as she did first-up, she should go close. She was a bit too far back last start but flew home.”

Binnacle is Foran’s other runner, in the third race, but he needs to lift to win.

“He’ll have to improve because he hasn’t been doing much,” Foran said. “He’s got the ability but he just doesn’t seem to want to do it. I’m hoping that might change because he’s been working a bit better this week. I’ve put the blinkers back on and, if he tries his best, he’ll be good enough.”
