City street becomes a UFC octagon
THREE men have been captured on video engaged in a wild fight in the middle of a road in inner Sydney.
Passers-by noticed the three men yelling and becoming aggressive with each other on Kippax St near the corner of Holt St in Surry Hills about 2.30am on Saturday.
One witness, who asked not to be named, said he thought the three men were “mates” involved in some roughhousing until one of the men delivered a sickening high kick to another’s head.
The injured man sprang to his feet and the fighting between the three continued.
The witness said it soon became apparent he was seeing a two-onone street brawl, which only ended when one of the fighters smashed a bottle and threatened to glass his opponent.
A video of the fight begins with a man in a white and black T-shirt shaping up and punching a smaller man in a light T-shirt to the head.
As this happens, a third man, who was tall, muscular and wearing a bum bag on his chest, comes to support the smaller man and shapes up to the man in the black and white shirt. Bizarrely, with the fight over, the three men appear to walk off in the same direction.
A NSW Police spokeswoman said there was no investigation because the fight had not been reported to police and there were no official victims who had made a complaint.
The area which became a UFC octagon is, like much of Surry Hills, becoming gentrified but still retains some of its past rough edges.
