Molan makes good on her sister pact

The Sunday Telegraph (Sydney) - - ARMS DEALS - PHIL ROTHFIELD

CHANNEL 9 star Erin Molan has posed for an advertising campaign to raise money and awareness for bowel cancer, the disease that almost took the life of her sister.

The NRL presenter recently did a photo shoot for Apple Stem Cells on the condition the skin care company donated $1 from the sale of their products to bowel cancer research.

The advertisements will appear in Vogue and Marie Claire. “Awareness is everything,” Molan said.

“At school we learn ‘slip slop slap’ for skin cancer, we learn not to smoke for lung cancer, in high school we learn to check our breasts for breast cancer — but no one talks about bowel cancer. It can be gross to talk about, so people don’t.

“My sister Sarah was 27 when she was diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer.

“It was considered an old person’s disease and we nearly lost her. We were so close to finding it too late.”

Molan made a pact with her sister at the time of her surgery that they would devote their lives to raising awareness of bowel cancer.

It is why she signed up as an ambassador for Bowel Cancer Australia.
