Love a shoe-in for gym buddies

The Sunday Telegraph (Sydney) - - INSIDER -

When Rianne Byrne and Paul Petersen first started dating after meeting at the gym in 2015, neither knew the other was keeping the same secret. It wasn’t until Rianne got a look inside Paul’s home and saw an

impressive stockpile of sneakers that she too could admit to having a serious collection of her own.

Now that the pair live together, there are “easily more than 100 pairs” in the house, Rianne laughs.

“They have their own room — but Paul is a size 12 foot so his take up a lot more room.”

The couple love their footwear so much they changed into a pair of matching Nike Air Jordans midway through their wedding in May and stayed in the more comfortable option for the remainder of the night.

Paul and Rianne would see each other at the gym at the same time each night and eventually started chatting, which led to them working out together and finally a night out.

“We went out together one night and the rest is history,” Rianne says.

While on a holiday in Hawaii in 2017, the pair were sitting on their balcony when Paul ducked back inside to “grab a drink”.

“He completely surprised me when he reappeared and went down on one knee and asked me to marry him,” Rianne says.

They tied the knot on May 25 under the Moreton Bay fig tree in Watson’s Bay with their reception next door at Top Deck at the Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel. About 50 close family and friends helped the newlyweds celebrate in style — and (comfortably) dance the night away. PHOTOS: CHRISTIAN GILLES, THE FRENCH PHOTOGRAPHER. COM
