Win for victims

The Sunday Telegraph (Sydney) - - NEWS -

THE Catholic Church’s settlement with a man raped by a pedophile priest shows clergy sex abuse victims are starting to get accountability, says a lawyer on the case.

Lawyer Judy Courtin represented the victim in a civil case at the Supreme Court of Victoria, confirmed a settlement but would not confirm reports of a $1m payment.

Dr Courtin said this was the first civil case where the church had publicly admitted legal liability, ahead of a settlement.
