CAMILLA X WARLU LAUNCHH

COOEE ART GALLERY, BONDI BEACH

The Sunday Telegraph (Sydney) - - INSIDER -

BONDI’S Cooee Gallery was the perfect location for fashion designer Camilla Franks to showcase her new Warlu capsule collection.

Camilla worked with indigenous artists from the Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation, about five hours northwest of Alice Springs, to create three distinct prints for the stunning range.

Artworks that inspired the prints are on display at the gallery for the next fortnight with the launch also serving as opening for the exhibition.

“To finally see the partnership come to fruition, it is a pinch yourself moment,” Franks said. “The dream with my prints is we drive really important conversations around art and traditions and culture and environment.”

Indigenous dancers greeted guests on arrival, performing traditional dance for the likes of Nikki Phillips, Jules Robinson, Fleur Egan and Jimmy Niggles. JONATHON MORAN
