PORT MACQUARIE — ADAM SHERRY
Monica’s Star produced a solid effort on debut to finish second to Zellymay over this distance here on Oct 11. Can go one better. Two Up was also runnerup on debut behind Tallis here Oct 12 over 1010m. Reuben James will find this easier than recent efforts at Scone, Muswellbrook and Newcastle’s Beaumont. Handy third two runs back.
Bet: Monica’s Star win. Quinella and Trifecta 1, 2, 3, 4
Stormiaire, making her debut for the Wayne Wilkes stable, has good speed and can control the race. Topweight Serbelloni looks the main danger and has placed second at three of past four starts. Leave Me Some raced greenly when second to Got The Giggles at Tuncurry on debut. Freshened and look for another forward showing.
Bet: Stormiaire each way, Quinella and Trifecta 1, 4, 5, 12
Greenskeeper hasn’t had much go his way in finishing second at six of past seven starts. He only needs even luck and can break his maiden status this afternoon. Autumn Rain started a short-priced favourite at Gunnedah first-up when a well-held third to Sir Clooney who ran them off their feet. Capable of better. Deed Of Gift worked home fairly for fifth at Taree on debut on Oct 18.
Bet: Greenskeeper win. Quinella and Trifecta 3 / 4, 9, 10, 11
Roman Candle has worked well to be just behind the placegetters at three starts since a second at Scone back in August. Up to 2012m will suit. Oakwoods Hope was better last start when third in a class 1 at Tuncurry on Sept 13. Privately Epic and Red Intuition were second and third respectively here last start and can be thereabouts again.
Bet: Roman Candle win
Queens went from a class 1 to a class 3 at Taree last start and wasn’t disgraced when a two-length fifth. Back to her right grade here and will go close. Up The Stairs won at Tuncurry two starts back before a game third to the handy First Time Lucky here on Oct 12. Yu Long Sheng Hui comes out of that same Tuncurry race where he was second. Meets Up The Stairs 1.5kg worse and has drawn wider this time. Bet: Queens win. Quinella and Trifecta 9 / 1, 3, 4
Welter didn’t beat an overly strong field on debut here on Oct 12 but the way he put them away late was very good. Up in class and weight but looks a promising type. Perfect will find this much easier than the class 2 field she tackled when resuming on Oct 11. Was held up late and should have finished much closer. Ardee won here at first start for new trainer John Sprague on Oct 11.
Bet: Welter win. Quinella 6, 12
Tallis broke his maiden status with a stylish all-theway two-length win over Two Up when resuming here on Oct 12. Drawn out wide but looks a handy type and can win again. Full Of Spirit had no luck when down the track at Grafton in his final start last season. Previous runs were good including a win here two starts back. Former Victorian Gisela’s Crown debuted for new trainer Damien Lane with a handy win at Coonamble on Oct 13.
Bet: Tallis win. Quinella and Trifecta 1, 4, 5, 9
