The Sunday Telegraph (Sydney) - - COX PLATE 2019 -

SOUL Patch raced into Victoria Derby calculations with a brilliant display to win the Drummond Golf Vase (2040m) for three-year-olds with the addition of blinkers for the first time, but trainer Ken Keys faces a dilemma as to whether they stay on for next Saturday.

Keys and jockey Dwayne Dunn said blinkers made the difference to Soul Patch in his runaway win, but the horse was no certainty to run in the Derby.

The blinkers helped Soul Patch settle closer but easing favourite Battenburg, who settled right behind the lead, faded.
