IRONSIDE MAKES A MILE OF IT

CHIEF Ironside con­tin­ued the suc­cess­ful in­va­sion of in­ter­na­tional raiders by win­ning the Sch­weppes Crys­tal Mile.

With Jamie Spencer (inset) in the sad­dle, Chief Ironside — trained by French-born, UKbased David Menuisier — yes­ter­day fol­lowed the suc­cess of Hunt­ing Horn in the Moonee Val­ley Gold Cup.

Other winners to come from the Wer­ribee quar­an­tine cen­tre this spring in­clude Mer De Glace in the Caulfield Cup, while Cape Of Good Hope left quar­an­tine the morn­ing he was suc­cess­ful in the Caulfield Stakes for Lind­say Park. Chief Ironside came to Mel­bourne with his Cox Plate stable­mate Dance­te­ria.
