Gil­more’s slice of pizza heaven

HE cleaned up for the sec­ond year in a row on the De­li­cious 100 Peo­ple’s Choice vote.

But where does Peter Gil­more — ex­ec­u­tive chef at ar­guably Aus­tralia’s best restau­rant, Quay, and all-round food ge­nius — pick as his ‘‘peo­ple’s choice’’?

The an­swer won’t be found on any awards or rank­ing list. In­stead

Gil­more has given his nod to the unas­sum­ing Ter­rey Hills pizza joint Cavallino.

“We go there quite a bit for the piz­zas ob­vi­ously. It’s a nice fam­ily place,” says Gil­more, who ad­mits that — on most of his nights off — he loves noth­ing more than a home-cooked bar­be­cue. He’s also a yum-cha die hard. His fave? Manly’s Queen Chow.
