The Sunday Telegraph (Sydney) - - INSIDER - KERRY PARNELL ENTERTAINMENT WRITER

W e last saw her astride a dragon destroying King’s Landing, before Jon Snow dealt his love a fatal blow. But no one would have predicted Daenerys Targaryen would come back as a Christmas elf. Yet that’s just what Emilia Clarke has done in her new movie Last Christmas.

They say the mark of a good actor is to take interesting and unexpected roles — so here’s what her GOT co-stars did next:

PETER DINKLAGE

WAS Tyrion Lannister NOW Mighty Eagle in Angry Birds 2 One of the best characters in Game Of Thrones, Tyrion has feathered his nest, quite literally, as Dinklage voices the Mighty Eagle in the entertaining Angry Birds movie sequel. He’s also just signed to The Dwarf, the tale of a Machiavellian medieval dwarf who brings an

Italian court to ruin.

LENA HEADEY

WAS Cersei Lannister NOW Maudra Fara in The Dark Crystal She was the evil queen hell bent on power, now she’s the voice of Maudra Fara, another rebellious leader challenging for the crown in Netflix’s lavish production of The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance.

KIT HARINGTON

WAS Jon Snow

NOW Dane Whitman in Eternals After a stint in rehab, Harington (right) has taken his time to choose his next roles carefully — he appeared in the theatre production True West and is currently filming sci-fi adventure Eternals, alongside Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek and fellow GoT star Richard Madden.

SOPHIE TURNER

WAS Sansa Stark

NOW Phoenix in X-Men: Dark Phoenix She found superhuman strength in Game Of Thrones, so it is fitting Turner’s next adventure was as Phoenix in the X-Men franchise, followed up with indie flick Heavy and drama Broken Soldier.

CARICE VAN HOUTEN

WAS Melisandre

NOW Anna Willems in Temple She cast her spells in Game Of Thrones, but accomplished Dutch actor Van Houten (above) has gone back to her roots as Anna Willems in UK TV drama Temple with Mark Strong, as well as a role le in Domino alongside Coster-Waldau ldau and other half Guy

Pearce. MAISIE WILLIAMS

WAS Arya Stark NOW Wolfsbane in The New Mutants She dished out her own wn fair share of horror in n Game Of Thrones and now William’s first film post the franchise is scary sci-fi flick The New Mutants alongside Antonio Banderas and Stranger Things’ Charlie Heaton. Fans have been kept waiting though, with the release pushed back until April 2020. NIKOLAJ COSTERWALDAU

Was Jaime Lannister

Now Christian Toft in Domino The Danish actor has gone from troubled hero Jaime Lannister to king of the European thrillers, appearing as Danish police officer Christian Toft in Domino, alongside Guy Pearce and partner Carice van Houten, as well as Max Isaksen in another drama Suicide Tourist.

GWENDOLINE CHRISTIE

WAS Brienne of Tarth NOW Jane Murdstone in The Personal History Of David Copperfield She was the indomitable Brienne in Game of Thrones and Christie (inset, below) continues to shine on the London stage as Titania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and

Jane Murdstone in Armando Iannucci’s (The Death Of Stalin) new movie The Th Personal History Of David Copperfield C starring Dev Patel and Hugh

Laurie. Lau

IAIN IA GLEN

WAS W Jorah Mormont NOW N Batman in Ti Titans

We guess Jorah finally got his reward rew — a role as Bruce Wayne himself him in TV series Titans, as well as a part in gritty UK drama The Flood with Headey — and most excitingly, in the upcoming remake of Black Beauty, with Kate Winslet.

WAS Bran Stark NOW Not very much Bran might have shocked fans by winning the Game Of Thrones but Hemstead Wright has been keeping a pretty low profile since shooting wrapped, combining travel and studying with fun stuff such as Glastonbury. He is attached to upcoming sci-fi movie Voyagers, a movie described as “Lord Of The Flies In Space”, alongside Colin Farrell and Tye Sheridan.
