MUSIC streaming service Spotify put on a show to remember with some of Australia’s top emerging hip hop artists performing at the Metro Theatre on Thursday night.

The prospect of seeing some new talent proved a winner with several high-profile established musicians in the crowd.

Peking Duk was there, as was Illy — real name Alasdair Murray — alongside industry heavyweights and fans.

Six artists, all featuring on the Spotify A1 playlist, took to the stage in what turned out to be a mini festival event.

Aussies on the bill included Tripleone, Manu Crooks and Kwame while one New Zealander flew the Kiwi flag in JessB.

Punters certainly got bang for their buck. They would have anyway if they had to pay as it was a free concert to celebrate the emerging hip hop scene in Australia. JONATHON MORAN
