EMERGENCY Services were last night scrambling to the aid of a worker trapped underground in the new Forrestfield-Airport Link tunnel.
Fire and rescue crews were at the scene on Fricker Road at Perth Airport and preparing to enter the tunnel with stretchers about 6pm.
It is believed the worker was trapped 20m underground behind pipework after a highpressure air hose ruptured.
The condition of the worker was not known. The Public Transport Authority has been contacted for comment.
The incident was reported at 5.32pm. Rescuers were expected to lift the worker out using a crane with a basket.
The $1.86 billion rail line will link new stations at Forrestfield, Perth Airport and Redcliffe with Bayswater.
