GOES HOME TO AUSTRALIND WITH NICOLE
SHE’S spent very little time in WA since the death of her father in 2016, but this week supermodel Nicole Trunfio took time out to spend with family in Australind.
Bringing her baby daughter Gia home for the first time, Trunfio, an international ambassador for the Telstra Perth Fashion Festival, said it felt amazing to be back in her home town.
“I haven’t been home for a while, but home really is where the heart is and everything feels really comfortable to me here,” she said.
“It makes you realise when you are abroad for so long how much you are constantly adjusting to a different culture and way of life and when you come home you don’t have to think about anything, you just settle right in, and everything is so great and easy.
“I was only in Australind for a couple of days but managed to catch up with a lot of family. They all love Gia.”
On the back of her family visit down south, Nicole agreed to do a special photo shoot exclusively for
STM on a property in Australind. “Where we are today is so epically beautiful. If I went here on a modelling trip I would be mesmerised, it’s magical,” she said. “I think sometimes you don’t appreciate what’s right in front of you. I think we get stuck in this thing that the grass is greener.”
The day started with a early morning helicopter flight from Perth with Corsaire Aviation, fol- lowed by a day of shooting in Australind before flying back to Perth in time for Nicole to walk in the closing show of TPFF.
Trunfio, 32, now lives in Texas with husband, musician Gary Clark Jr and children, Zion, three, and Gia, eight months.
“Texas is not so different to here. We live in wine country, and there are lots of wineries and a new brewery just opened up down the road from us,” she said. “Growing up here, we spent our weekends going to the wineries and breweries and the chocolate factory and the cheese factory. We have 50 acres at home and sometimes my husband and I joke about living out my dad’s dream, plant some grape vines and one day start our own winery.”
Shot by Chantel Concei, Nicole poses in WA labels including One Fell Swoop, Flannel, Empire Rose, Morrison and Ae’lkemi for the STM shoot.
