Mum held over death

A DIANELLA mother, who is ac­cused of mur­der­ing her el­derly grand­mother al­most seven years ago, sobbed un­con­trol­lably in court yes­ter­day.

Alaine Dawn Sturniolo, 36, ex­claimed “I can’t miss my baby’s birth­day” when she learnt she would be re­manded in cus­tody.

She looked dazed, dis­tressed and was hold­ing a sick bag when she ap­peared in the dock af­ter be­ing charged on Fri­day.

Ms Sturniolo al­legedly mur­dered her 91-year-old grand­mother May Dawn Glad­stone Bald­win be­tween Jan­uary 2 and 16, 2012, at Wem­b­ley Downs. Mrs Bald­win died at Sir Charles Gaird­ner Hospi­tal on Jan­uary 16, 2012.

Ms Sturniolo’s fam­ily de­clined to comment.
