Adoptees’ say on law reform

The Sunday Times - - NEWS -

YOUNG people who have been adopted are being asked to share their views on proposed changes to WA’s adoption laws.

Commissioner for Children Colin Pettit said the recent statutory review of the Adoption Act 1994 had recommended changes to the Act.

“Adoption has a profound impact on a child’s wellbeing and all children and young people have the right to be heard on decisions that affect them,” he said.

Mr Pettit said this was the first specific consultation on adoption in WA held with children and young people aged 12-25 years.
