Horse tramples jockey
JOCKEY Natasha Faithfull was flown to Royal Perth Hospital yesterday after suffering multiple injuries while exercising a horse in Albany.
The 25-year-old received punctured lungs, broken ribs, a broken collarbone and a lacerated liver in the fall.
Her mother, trainer Samantha, posted on Facebook that the horse her daughter was on took fright, flipped over and rolled down a bank with her.
The animal then stomped on her as it was trying to stand.
Faithfull was stabilised in Albany before being flown to RPH by the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
“Apparently she was just coming back from the beach and she fell with the horse over a sandbank,” Racing and Wagering WA racing careers and training manager Ron Fleming said.
“The horse rolled on her and then jumped on her trying to get back up, which is never good. It’s very unfortunate.”
Faithfull rode a winning double at Albany on Friday.
