Merrigum golf:

The Tatura Guardian - - Sport -

The Newton’s Parcel Servicesponsored pairs ambrose was held at Merrigum on Saturday and it was probably the best attended in the 15 years the event has been running.

Regrettably it was a case of leaving the best until last as sponsors Glenn Newton and Kim Jones have decided that the future for them is in a different direction with changing priorities in life.

The club is deeply indebted to the pair for the great amount of time and effort they have put in during the many years they have been associated with Merrigum Golf Club.

The event has been an annual highlight on our golfing calendar for which we are all grateful, with the sheer volume of prizes indicative of the effort that has been put into organising the days.

The club wishes Glenn and Kim all the best for whatever future endeavours they take on.

Winners overall on Saturday were Ashley and Paul Kuiper with a fantastic three under par score of 67-5.75-61.25.

That put them more than a shot ahead of their closest rivals on a day when fractions usually separate those at the top of the field.

Runners-up on a count back and women’s winners were Tash Doherty and Rhonda Eberle with a round of 77-14-63.

Third place on a count back was the father-and-son pair Darryl and Bryce Johnston with a score of 75-12-63.

The mixed winners were the newly announced life members
