Bowls club donates funds to hospital
The Tatura Hospital Benefit Charity Day has come to a close for another year, donating a cheque of $1616.40 to the much-needed town facility.
Annually the Tatura Bowls Club celebrates with a day of competitive bowls, raffles and ‘‘ a bit of humorous nature’’.
‘‘Most of the prizes are what have been donated from business houses around the town, it’s a big community effort and that is why what we collect in entry fees, raffles, whatever, the entirety of it goes to the hospital,’’ Tatura Bowls Club publicity officer John Crilly said.
Goulburn Valley Health Tatura campus manager and director of nursing Jayne French said the facility would put the funds towards specialised beds, which were being replaced across the board.
‘‘It’s a fantastic effort and the community support is just outstanding here at Tatura,’’ Ms French said.
‘‘It’s always been a very generous giving community.’’
Mr Crilly said when people knew it was a fundraiser for the hospital they wanted to get involved.
‘‘Adrian Barry, who is a member of our club, was very instrumental in obtaining donations fromorganisations, he did a lot of fundraising,’’ Mr Crilly said.
