Ride offers even more
More than 300 people will walk, ride, skip or jump to Tatura this weekend for the Tatura 200 Charity Bike Ride and Walk on Saturday.
A variety of distances and events will be on offer including the 200 km ride, along with 100 km ride, 50 km ride, 44 km crosscountry ride, 10 km ride, and for the first time the Gears and Graze ride out to Longleat Wines in Murchison.
Events and exhibitor coordinator Georgia Vibert said there were more than 75 people attending the newest edition.
‘‘This is the first time we have run it and we are really excited to be able to offer something different,’’ Ms Vibert said.
Riders will have the chance to ride out and enjoy antipasto hampers, wine, family entertainment and live music, all while relaxing among the vines.
Ms Vibert said more than $90 000 had been raised so far and would be donated back into the local community.
‘‘Our largest recipient ($50 000) this year is Marian Community, which is a part of VincentCare Victoria and supports women and children affected by domestic violence in the Goulburn Valley,’’ Ms Vibert said.
This is the third year the ride has supported the organisation, which has received $175 000 in total with help from major sponsors Tatura Milk Industries and Bega Cheese.
The first ride kicks off at 7 am fromthe Tatura Italian Social Club, 45 Martin St, Tatura.
