More than 300 peo­ple will walk, ride, skip or jump to Tatura this week­end for the Tatura 200 Char­ity Bike Ride and Walk on Satur­day.

A va­ri­ety of dis­tances and events will be on of­fer in­clud­ing the 200 km ride, along with 100 km ride, 50 km ride, 44 km cross­coun­try ride, 10 km ride, and for the first time the Gears and Graze ride out to Lon­gleat Wines in Murchi­son.

Events and ex­hibitor co­or­di­na­tor Ge­or­gia Vib­ert said there were more than 75 peo­ple at­tend­ing the new­est edi­tion.

‘‘This is the first time we have run it and we are re­ally ex­cited to be able to of­fer some­thing dif­fer­ent,’’ Ms Vib­ert said.

Riders will have the chance to ride out and en­joy an­tipasto ham­pers, wine, fam­ily en­ter­tain­ment and live mu­sic, all while re­lax­ing among the vines.

Ms Vib­ert said more than $90 000 had been raised so far and would be do­nated back into the lo­cal com­mu­nity.

‘‘Our largest re­cip­i­ent ($50 000) this year is Mar­ian Com­mu­nity, which is a part of Vin­cen­tCare Vic­to­ria and sup­ports women and chil­dren af­fected by do­mes­tic vi­o­lence in the Goul­burn Val­ley,’’ Ms Vib­ert said.

This is the third year the ride has sup­ported the or­gan­i­sa­tion, which has re­ceived $175 000 in to­tal with help from ma­jor spon­sors Tatura Milk In­dus­tries and Bega Cheese.

The first ride kicks off at 7 am fromthe Tatura Ital­ian So­cial Club, 45 Mar­tin St, Tatura.
