Merrigum golf:

The Tatura Guardian - - Sport -

It was a warm Saturday for Merrigum golfers to contest the second round of the summer four-ball.

The event was a pairs ambrose and the winning pair were almost as hot as the day itself.

Ash Sanders and Bruce Andrews had a day out, winning easily by more than three shots from their nearest rivals after a round of 69-8-61.

From memory they were runners-up in the first round so they are well placed in the overall competition at this early stage.

Craig and Simon Doherty were the next best with 64.5 and headed the ball competition.

They were joined by John Fuller and Tony Borrelli who scored 65.75.

There were two dead eyes when it came to nearest-thepins with Bruce Brown taking both the sixth and ninth and John Fuller taking the jackpot 12th and the 14th.

Last Thursday’s twilight competition was tough going with only two decent scores in for the evening.

Frank Leyden was the winner with a good round of 47-12-35 while Simon Doherty was next best with 42-5.5-36.5.

Most of the other scores were well into the forties.

Andrew Wood won least putts with 14 and Craig Doherty took the jackpot for nearest-the-pin on the ninth. The two point cut was 41. Next Saturday’s event is par.
