Police are seeking assistance from the public to solve the theft of 70 purebred Damara ewes valued at $15 000 from near Murchison last month.

The theft took place from a property on Orr Rd, Murchison, between November 1 and November 18.

‘‘We believe a stock truck was likely to have been used in the theft of the sheep,’’ Murchison Police Station Leading Senior Constable Ricky Keast said.

He was told by the owner that the sheep stolen were the purebred breeding ewes from the flock and a number of sheep on the property were left behind.

The Damara breed is a meat breed that sheds its wool and does not require shearing.
