The Varapodio Family Italian Plate Day was a winner among the people of the Goulburn Valley.

The annual event held at the Tatura Racecourse saw about 1800 people attending, despite the patchy wet weather.

Event organiser Jon Dight said although the weather was a disappointment it did not stop those attending from enjoying the day.

‘‘All in all the crowd has behaved well and are having a good time,’’ Mr Dight said.

Fashions on the field created a tough role for the judges, but Ameliah Scott and Brendan Leydan took out the couple of the day even having gone home during the event to bring the cows in.

Tatura and Shepparton Racing Club event manager Jamie Else said ‘‘so many of the ladies look amazing today — they’ve all gone above and beyond’’.
