Sarah and Seb Parker had always dreamt of a country home with water views.
Seven years ago they bought 20ha at Mylor that housed a river-like lake and set about making that dream a reality.
“My husband has always had an affinity with water and the whole house was designed to be all about the water,” says Sarah Parker.
All the main rooms in their 1000sq m home face the lake.
“The level of the land and the design of the house, it’s as if you look straight out on to the water,” Parker says.
There is a pontoon on the lake and a glassframed swimming pool and alfresco entertaining area overlooking the water and rolling hills beyond.
The opulent home has heated travertine floors throughout its open-plan living spaces with floorto-ceiling stackable doors that lead out to the deck and swimming pool.
A sunken living room has an open fire, perfect for winter evenings. There are six bedrooms and eight bathrooms. The ensuite to the master bedroom has a freestanding bathtub that overlooks the lake and surrounding countryside. There is also a north-south floodlit tennis court. The Parkers built the home and have loved their five years here.
“It’s a beautiful tranquil part of the hills,” Sarah Parker says. “There’s something so calming about living near water.”
With Seb Parker taking on a new business venture in Western Australia, the family is looking for its next renovation project. AGENT: Matt Smith, Klemich Real Estate, Kent Town.
