I promised you a rose garden
This winter we can no longer do that corny adage about blokes being “thorns between the roses”.
If ever there were a season for men to sport floral garments this is it.
Designers such as Gucci and Paul Smith have given guys the world over the excuse to abandon those dreary plains and geometrics, throw caution to the pollen-filled wind and frolic in the garden of herbaceous fabrics.
Last Saturday, I spotted a gaggle of early-30s guys heading off to a wedding and was struck by the floriferous ties and pocket squares, but most notably the chap who layered his floral shirt and tie with acute aplomb; the spectacle gave the Chelsea Flower Show a run for its money.
Men have loved Hawaiian shirts for decades and this is like the “afternoon tea” version of those distinctive palm and floral prints.
Wear it with a slimline navy tailored suit or a light wool overcoat to make winter seem just a tad more like spring. Once you’ve discovered the garden print I am sure you shall dig it.
