Memo to the next MD at the ABC: apart from meeting all the obvious criteria to perform the job well, you’ll also have to excel at fawning obsequiously at senior staff who think they own the ABC, Phillip Adams being an excellent example (“No sympathy for doomed duo”, Nov 24-25). Ignore this at your peril.

It’s not often I agree with Phillip Adams but he really hit the mark with his critique on the ABC duo. The recent Four Corners program about itself would have been more meaningful if the story had been produced by an outside media outlet. It is a bit like the banks investigating the banks – how can it possibly be accountable and impartial? How about it, Channel Nine? Marilyn Quirk Heybridge, Tas
