Everyone loves a wedding
It might be quicker to highlight the non-royal wedding programming on television this week. Which is to say there is a lot, especially on Foxtel.
For those with the most obvious interest — the wedding itself — Foxtel’s BBC UKTV channel will show the BBC’s live coverage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s big day from 6.15pm with the arrival of the guests, with the ceremony at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, beginning at about 9pm, followed by the carriage procession through Windsor Town from about 10pm.
Not enough? Check out E! Live from the Royal Wedding (Saturday, from 7pm, E!), with a fivehour broadcast hosted by Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski.
It will be followed tomorrow with E! The Royal Wedding Rundown (Sunday, 6pm, E!) an hourlong recap promising all the details from the starstudded celebrations.
The Lifestyle channel is screening Meghan The Royal Wedding Live With Cord and Tish Markle: How to be a Royal (Saturday, 4.30pm), which promises a primer on the kind of etiquette required by new royals, from how to marry, travel, behave, dress and celebrate in regal fashion.
And Markle’s movie, Dater’s Handbook (Saturday, 8pm, Universal), has been opportunistically and optimistically programmed. (It has no Rotten Tomatoes score as it has not been reviewed by critics.)
But in a piece of programming I am most tempted to watch, comedians Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon play fictional morning talk show hosts Cord Hosenbeck and Tish Cattigan in The Royal Wedding Live With Cord and Tish (Saturday, 9.30pm, FOX8 and the Comedy Channel). BBC UKTV. Saturday from 6.15pm,
