Parador de Cadiz is the local outpost of the state-owned Paradores chain and is a standout. A modernist block perched Atlantic-wards on the northern tip of the old town, it has spectacular views from the all-glass balconies and is only a few steps from pretty La Caleta Beach. It also has a vast outdoor pool. From about $258 a night twin-share with breakfast in October, a recommended time to visit. More: Hotel La Catedral is next to the cathedral and has a small rooftop pool with a stunning view. The 14 guestrooms, six of which look on to the cathedral, are simple but elegant.
