Labour hire benefits
It is not cheaper for a company to engage labour hire personnel (“Unions go to war over labour hire”, 11/1). In most cases it is the same cost as employing a casual. All labour hire employees are paid according to an award.
Companies engage labour hire services because it saves costs and time trying to recruit people. Labour hire companies also have arrangements where a worker may be engaged permanently.
Unions hate labour hire because it creates a firewall between the company and worker and exposes unions to third-party liabilities if they try industrial action. Trust Me
