What do you love about Cairns?

That it’s like one big outdoor playground. Love our urban vibe with great spots to dine and listen to live music and yet we have such easy access to the great outdoors, its literally on our doorstep. Where is the best coffee in Cairns?

In the city Blackbird or Caffiend. Out in the burbs I’d pick Limberlost just for its setting. Great place to take the kids because there’s butterflies and water features and greenery everywhere.

What is your favourite thing to eat here?

I’m a sucker for good Japanese food which we have plenty of places to choose from. Or give me a night out sharing tapas, local beers and good company.

How do you relax and unwind?

I head outdoors with the family. It seems that we are more bonded and have more tales to share after enjoying an adventure together.

Favourite book?

Songlines by Bruce Chatwin and Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert. But I’m a big fan of National Geographic magazines for inspiration. Favourite movie? The Big Blue by Luc Besson.

Favourite local haunt?

Crystal Cascades or Stoney Creek for a weekday dip.

What makes you happy?

Being outside in nature. That’s why I love Cairns so much, the tropical vibe and that it’s just one big natural playground for all ages to enjoy.
