There’s a BMW triple treat in Cairns next week, reports NICK DALTON.
TO mark the opening of Westco BMW’s new workshop, the dealership will launch the new BMW 7 Series flagship as well as having on hand a selection of high performance models not normally available for test drives in Cairns.
The new workshop will give customers and staff bigger and more efficient premises behind the current showroom and servicing area in Newell St.
The 7 Series will be launched at an invitation-only cocktail party in the BMW showroom on Friday from 7pm.
Two models will be on display, including the $203,000 740i.
Initially, the 7 Series will be available in five models, beginning with the 730d from $198,800 and topping with the $291,200 750Li.
All versions feature front seat ventilation, four zone automatic climate control airconditioning, Comfort Access, soft close doors and boot, an interactive owner’s handbook, satellite-navigation, a high resolution full colour 10.2in screen, a TV, voice activated controls, a sixstacker DVD changer, 12-speaker HiFi audio, BMW Dakota leather in a choice of seven colours, interior trim finish in a choice of four combinations and 10 metallic or two non-metallic paints.
Engine choices are twin-turbo six cylinder (240kW) and twin-turbo V8 (300kW) petrol engines and a 3.0-litre straight six turbo-diesel. It is the first time in Australia a diesel engine is available.
This fifth generation BMW 7 Series will be available in extended-wheelbase guise in both petrol models from launch, the 740Li and 750Li.
Prices are: BMW 730d $198,800, BMW 740i $203,000, BMW 740Li $218,000, BMW 750i $274,200 and BMW 750Li $291,200.
The high performance models available for test drives from May 28 until June 8 are a M3 sedan, a M5 sedan and a X6 35i 3.0 twin turbo.
The $152,300 M3 sedan double clutch auto is BMW’s most highly regarded of the M series. It features a 4.0-litre V8 with 309kW of power, a 0-100km/h time of 4.7s and an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h.
