CEL­E­BRA­TIONS for Toy­ota’s 50th an­niver­sary in Aus­tralia in­clude a new spe­cial edi­tion of the top-sell­ing Camry. The new Camry “Tour­ing” Spe­cial Edi­tion has 14 sep­a­rate fea­tures over and above Camry Al­tise, on which it is based.

There is $1500 worth of ex­tra value with a range of added ex­te­rior and in­te­rior fea­tures over the Al­tise.

Toy­ota has built more than 1.44 mil­lion Cam­rys in Aus­tralia since lo­cal Camry pro­duc­tion be­gan in 1987.

Camry rep­re­sents 55 per cent of all the ve­hi­cles Toy­ota has built in Aus­tralia since the first cars were pro­duced in 1963.

Last year, Toy­ota’s Al­tona plant built a record 114,714 Cam­rys, of which more than 80 per cent were ex­ported.

The se­cial edi­tion has 14 sep­a­rate fea­tures over and above Camry Al­tise with ex­te­rior fea­tures in­clud­ing 17in al­loy wheels (in­clud­ing an al­loy spare wheel), front foglamps, sports head­lamps a Camry Sportivo ra­di­a­tor grille.

The new spe­cial edi­tion also has a rear-lip spoiler, chrome ex­haust dif­fuser, “50th An­niver­sary” de­cals and “Tour­ing” badge.

The Camry Tour­ing in­te­rior pack­age in­cludes dual-zone air­con­di­tion­ing, multi-in­for­ma­tion dis­play and a six-disc CD changer.

The new au­dio sys­tem in­cludes two ad­di­tional speak­ers, mak­ing six in to­tal.

In ad­di­tion, the Camry Tour­ing Spe­cial Edi­tion has a three-spoke leather-bound steer­ing wheel, leather-bound park­ing brake lever and leather-bound gear-shift knob.

Un­der the new laws Toy­ota has not listed the drive away price but as a guide the Al­tise is priced from $28,490.
