Fords shine at show
IN an unofficial tribute to the demise of Ford Falcon manufacturing in Australia two older Falcons have dominated awards at the Cairns Show Autospectacular.
Russell Sheppard’s 1977 XC Fairmont hardtop was judged the best engine bay, top interior, top undercarriage/driveline, top coupe/ tudor and a car of the show. Don Gray’s 1971 XY Falcon GT with a 460 cubic inch V8 big block engine won four awards, including a car of show, top standard paint, top sedan and best presented individual display.
His 1969 Z28 Chevrolet Camaro was also judged best American muscle car.
Other car of the show winners were Michael Russo’s 1974 HoldenTorana LH, Pat Larsen’s 1954 Ford F100 ute and Brad Thomson’s 1976 Holden HJ panel van.
