Best of both worlds in Kewarra

-

ALTHOUGH it is home to some of the highest-priced beachfront properties in the northern beaches, Kewarra Beach is also known for providing a relaxed lifestyle at a relatively affordable price.

The suburb can be found about 20km north of the Cairns CBD and is located between tourist favourites Trinity Beach and Palm Cove.

This residential beach suburb has little development in the way of tourism and there is a high proportion of recent suburban development here with little diversity in housing.

“Kewarra Beach offers a beachy lifestyle at an affordable price,” says Luke Banttoft, principal, Cairns Beaches Realty.

“We all live here for the lifestyle. It is predominantly populated by young families. There are plenty of parks and playgrounds as well as the very usable beach with barbecues and play equipment for families. It is known to be a very family-orientated suburb and the reason for that is the opportunity to provide a good lifestyle for children. The schooling out here is really good. There’s private and state so everyone has a choice.”

amenities you would find in the city (except a hospital). Luke says the suburb has a great vibe and a real sense of community. He calls it a “sleepy residential hollow” set in a great location.

“It really is a true reflection of where the rainforest meets the sea,” he says. “On one side, you’ve got the mountains and on the other, the sea. It’s the best of both worlds.”

Kewarra Beach has a general practitioner as well as a chemist and pathology services. There is a small shopping complex which includes a bottle shop. Trinity Anglican School has a primary school campus in the suburb as well as a chapel.

There is also a JapaneseEnglish Language School. Adjacent suburb Trinity Beach has a primary state school that offers Prep classes.

The nearest high school is at Smithfield and there is a Catholic primary school at Trinity Park.
